Three Nokia N82 Commercials For A Slow Day

Well it's been rather slow in the Nokia & Symbian world the past few days. I'm working on a few good articles to get up in the next few days, but for now I thought I'd share a couple video commercials I found for the Nokia N82.

This first one is called Fairytale. I don't really find it very inspiring and it doesn't make me want to buy the phone. You don't really know it's a N82 commercial until the very end. Others might find it good though.

This next commercial is showing off the Nokia N82 black and it's sleek design and great photo sharing capabilities.

And this last one I think I've already shared here but I thought I'd show it again since I feel it's the best out of the three and really gets the point across of what the Nokia N82 is all about.

Which advertisement did you like the best?

Do these videos go on the air in Europe? I know I've never seen a commercial for any Nokia Nseries device here in the United States. Or are these commercials meant for internet advertising only? Do you think if Nokia were to spend the money on TV ads in the States more Americans would drop $500 on one? For current N82 owners... Do you think these commercials get the point across of how good the phone is, or are they only touching the surface?

Nokia N82 Black Or Silver? My Final Decision

Nokia N82 Black Photos From www.then82blog.com - Share on OviNokia N82 - Share on Ovi

Now that I've had a chance to play with the N82 black for a few weeks I can finally decide if I want to keep the original N82 silver color or buy a N82 black. Before I actually got a hands on with the black version all I saw was pictures, pictures and more pictures. From those pictures I pretty much knew I wanted the black, but the silver started growing on me. Because of the ridiculous amount of pictures going around the web I am not going to take any side by side shots of the two colors, instead you can click here to see the ones I posted about a month ago if you haven't got your fill.

After spending a few weeks with the N82 black beauty, I have fallen in love with it. At a glance it just looks so much better. Of course this is just personal opinion and bias for black phones. Before the N82 silver I had the N73 black and most of my previous phones were black. So of course it's up to the user. I can sit here and talk all day about how I like the color better, but what else?

To me all the keys feel a lot better on the black version. It's been two weeks with the phone and still no creaking from the d-pad. All the edges around the center button are evenly raised and have an equal feel all the way around when pressed. Like I said before the outer rim of the d-pad feels more raised arouned the center button, almost like it's cupping the center button giving it a very nice feel when you put your thumb on it. As for the number keys I have been getting a creaking sound when it's warm out and I'm texting alot. Right now in the room I'm in it's pretty cold and I hear no creaks. Once in awhile the C button makes a slight click sound, almost like it's sticking to whatevers underneath it, but it doesn't feel that way. There is no gap around the edges of the screen like some people have noticed on the titanium.

Another thing I've realized is there are no scratches or nicks on the phone yet, something that happened within two weeks of owning the titanium. Maybe I'm just treating this phone better, but honestly I feel like any little thing would add a scratch to the N82 titanium, especially around the Nokia label below the screen. One thing to remember though is the black is a fingerprint magnet. Holy crap sometimes I wipe it clean then five minutes later they are back again. I'm constantly wiping it clean with my sunglass cloth that now I'm keeping in my pocket regularly. Sometiems I wish they would've used more of a matte finish on the front, similar to the sides but slightly glossier than the sides. This is something I can live with though.

So what's the verdict? Obviously I'm gonna go buy a N82 black as soon as I have enough money. The build quality just seems alot better and I'm sold on the color. I have a feeling Nokia realized some of the small flaws of the original and tried to fix the problems with the black model and hopefully all newly made titanium models.

If your interested in seeing my full review of the Nokia N82 in general, click here to check out those articles.

How many of you have switched over to the black, and are you happy with your choice? How about you the titanium owners? Are you happy keeping your silver beauty until the next best thing comes around?

Got My Hands On The N82 Black - Initial Thoughts

Well I finally got to see a Nokia N82 black in real life. Having it in my hand looks just as good if not better than all the pictures posted. All the buttons feel a lot more solid, but maybe it's just because the phone is brand new. Thanks to WOM World for hooking me up with the phone for a few weeks so I can share it here with you guys. I have now decided that I eventually need to get one of these. I like it way better than the titanium color, even though the black is more prone to fingerprints. Right when I pulled the phone out of the box I realized that it was covered in my fingerprints almost instantly. You really need to keep one of those soft clothes nearby. The black color just looks a lot better especially for a guy. Plus I've always enjoyed having black phones better than any other color.

Anyways, here are a handful of pictures I've taken of the N82 black version. I know you've already seen plenty so I didn't got overboard. Just basic closeups and different angles.

note: the slideshow is in flash and may not be viewable from some rss readers. full the full website if you can't see anything.

Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.

One thing I would've asked for is a more matted surface instead of glossy and shiny. Like I said before the black is more prone to fingerprints, and I think this could've been helped by having less shine.

If you have any questions please leave them in the comments below. I'll have a more in depth review over at Symbian-Addict where I do all of my phone reviews.

Still Can't Decide Which N82 Color? Here's Photos Of All Three Side By Side

I conducted a poll a few weeks ago about which color variant of the Nokia N82 you prefer. Out of 512 voters - 52% said black, 41% said Titanium and 6% undecided. If your one of the people on the fence about which color you prefer, check out the gallery of N82 black and N82 titanium variants creme, and white. Good find by the guys over at Into Mobile.

Click here to see the rest of the gallery if you'd like.

Thanks to the folks at Wom World I'm going to be getting to use the Nokia N82 black for a few weeks so I can showcase it to all of you and finally make my decision to to purchase or to keep the titanium. If anyone wants any certain angles of the phone I can take a picture and show you here at the blog. More on that next week.

For those that have the N82 black already, are you liking it? How is the build quality?

The Two N82 Colors - Side By Side

A Chinese phone website has published some side by side comparison photos of the Nokia N82 in black and titanium. It's amazing how both of the phones look great. I initially thought I would be leaning towards liking the black version better, but now I am not so sure. The titanium is really unique and like others have said I would've liked to see the N82 black in more of a matte finish rather than glossy.

I'm curious to see how many of you prefer the titanium or black.

Vote in the poll in the right column and let us know your thoughts.

Update: I also just added more pictures that a commenter linked us to at this Chinese website.

Keep checking back throughout the day and I'll try to post more pictures.

New Nokia N82 Black Real World Pics Spotted, In Stock At Retailers

I was just browsing a Howard Forums topic about the N82 black and spotted some new street pictures that the user "samven582" posted. The images are also tagged Engadget, but I can't find the exact source of the photos. If someone finds their article with these pics please share in the comments below so I can give the proper source. Thanks to a commenter here at the blog, the source of these photos came from this article at Engadget.

I also checked out a post today by Devin from The Nokia Guide which talks about the Nokia N82 black being available and in stock at PhoneSourceUSA. Click here to check out the article and keep in mind Devin found out buyers outside of the USA can get the phone shipped internationally. Warning: Make sure you call that retailer first I've heard all their N82's are the asian version with asian markings on the keypad above the each number.

I haven't heard of any other places having it in stock, if you find one be sure to share and leave a comment below.

Release Date Pushed Back? Nokia Teasing Us With N82 Black

Well it looks as though Nokia is pushing back the shipping date of the N82 black-again.  A few retailers had a release date of early April which aparently they get from Nokia.

Remember the quote from Nokia's press release about the black beauty...

"The Nokia N82 in black is expected to start shipping within weeks, with an estimated retail price of approximately 400 euros, before taxes and subsidies."

A reader here at the blog tipped us off about the date being pushed back at mobilecityonline.com to May 10. Huge bummer right. One nice thing is that it looks like the prices for the N82, including the black - are dropping. At that site you can preorder the phone for $479.99.  Not a bad deal and I'm hoping it drops even more by next month.

Its not rare for Nokia to keep pushing release dates back. Nokia N95 fans in the States recently experienced this with the Nokia N95-4.  Some people blamed the retailers for posting false and hopefull dates, but I wouldn't lie the blame entirely on them.

So far it looks like the "funny man" Stavros is the only one to get his hands on the black N82.

Ps. I know today is Thursday and still no Wednesday Themesday. I was so busy yesterday between work and fixing my broken down car. I promise I'll get something up for you guys today. It should be interesting too so stay tuned.

Nokia N82 Black Data Sheet - Flash Enabled Browser?

Well thanks to a link from the reader Sid here at The N82 Blog the Nokia N82 black version, the one everyone has been drooling over, might be coming with a flash enabled browser like the N95 8gb.

According to the data sheet under Explore it says...
"FlashLite 3 support enables the viewing of Flash video content from web based services".

If I'm not mistaken this means flash sites will work in the browser right? Youtube, Break.com, movie trailers, etc. right? Espn.com highlights and even porn in the browser like Mark Guim from The Nokia Blog pointed out (for those who can't get enough).

Or maybe I am wrong. Maybe this just means the FlashLite 3 program is installed so Flash files can be opened and viewed from the phone and not the browser. I hope thats not the case.

Anyways you can click here and check out the Nokia N82 Black Data Sheet for yourself and tell us what you think.

Thanks again to Sid for the link.

Have You Picked Up Or Preordered A N82 Black Yet?

I was just wondering if any of you N82 fans have picked up or put the order in for a black Nokia N82? Also what kind of deals are you guys and gals finding? I'm still saving up to get myself one, hopefully it's soon. I'm starting to price around again and found a few retailers taking preorders for under $500. The Nokia N82 Black Launch Video - WOW!

If your not totally sold on the new color variant for the N82 then this video should do the trick. Devin from The Nokia Guide has found a video of the Nokia N82 in black. Nokia is still going with the "Storytelling Rediscovered" slogan, which I think fits the N82 perfectly especially with the new built-in geotagging feature.

Black Nokia N82 Shipping Within Weeks, Plus Press Photos

Well I wake up this morning after a great St. Patty's Day night of drinking to see an email from Nokia saying the N82 dressed in black will be shipping within weeks. Great news for those who have waited so long for this. The N82 black will come with the new firmware that will place your photos on a map with built in geotagging and hopefully a handful of bug fixes that we currently have on our silver N82. With this release we should also be getting a new firmware update for the silver version coming in a few weeks, but I haven't heard anything in stone.

Below is a flash slideshow of a handful of new press photos of the Nokia N82 in black...

Here is the official press release by Nokia. In the article they talk about an application called Sports Tracker which is already available on Nokia's website. I show you guys in another post if you haven't checked it out yet.

Nokia N82 in black - Postcards from the cutting-edge

Multimedia computer excels as travel companion with photography, navigation and Internet connectivity
Espoo, Finland - Nokia today unveiled the Nokia N82 in stylish black, bringing a blend of state-of-the-art imaging, integrated navigation and high-speed Internet connectivity to the Nseries range of converged devices. This jet black multimedia computer enables people to "geotag" the images they capture - allowing them to not only be saved by date, but by location as well. This adds to a line-up of compelling photography features, including a 5 megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss optics and a Xenon flash. Not only does the Nokia N82 take great pictures, array of advanced connectivity features makes it easy for consumers to share their discoveries, journeys and locations. The Nokia N82 in black is expected to start shipping within weeks, with an estimated retail price of approximately 400 euros, before taxes and subsidies.
"The Nokia N82 is made for storytelling," says Juha Kokkonen, Director for Nokia Nseries devices. "As one of Nokia's leading-edge connected camera, the Nokia N82 in black captures people's journeys and discoveries. With built-in A-GPS it even helps people to find new places by pairing 'contextual' information with a wide array of connectivity features such as Wi-Fi and HSDPA. We make it easy for consumers to quickly share those moments as they happen."
When it comes to camera capabilities, the gloss-black Nokia N82 is set to wow world travelers and photography enthusiasts alike. The 5 megapixel camera, powerful Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss optics, ultra-fast camera activation, autofocus with a dedicated assist lamp, fast reloading between shots and DVD-like quality video capture all ensure that special moments can be captured "picture perfect" - even in low light conditions.
Taking advantage of its integrated A-GPS functionality and high resolution camera, the Nokia N82 automatically tags images with capture location metadata, making it possible to view the capture location on a map either on the Internet or on the device itself. When it comes to sharing, consumers can upload their pictures or videos directly from their Nokia N82 to services like Share on Ovi, Flickr or YouTube. By installing Nokia's exclusive and free Sports Tracker application, consumers can share their whereabouts and travel route with others on the Sports Tracker website - including the capture locations of images. The Nokia Sports Tracker is a GPS based activity tracker that runs on Nokia smartphones. Information such as speed, distance and time are automatically stored in the application, and can be shared with others.

So after all the build up and waiting for this new black variant are you still excited about getting one or are you just loving your silver N82?

Black Nokia N82 Coming To All About Symbian, More Differences Than Just The Color?

Steve Litchield from AllAboutSymbian.com today mentioned that he'll be getting a black Nokia N82 to check out. He didn't say much about it, other than the following statement...

"On a side note, I'm on a shortlist to try out the black N82 - not just a cosmetic variant this, as the new colours fix the usability problems of the keypad legend on the original silver version."

I wonder if he's talking about the clicking sounds that many have experienced on there keypads. For instance on my direction pad when I push to the right I get a slight clicking sound. It's nothing serious or loud, but still it shouldn't be that way.

Only time will tell.

Another N82 Black Spotted - This Time On Video

Well well well. Looks like the N82 black in the real world has been spotted again. Thanks to Stefan and a tipster at Into Mobile, the ever so dreamed about phone is shown in a video.

The video doesn't really give us any closeups of the phone, and I have no idea what the nice woman is saying. If someone knows the language please share some more details.

Anyways, here is the first video footage of the Nokia N82 in black...

Once again, thanks to Into Mobile for the find.

After all the evidence of this new color, how many of you are still excited about the N82 black, or are you perfectly content your current N82?

Well looky here, I just came across the first real world pictures of the Nokia N82 in sexy black. Seems as though the photos were taken with a crappy camera, or one that had the lens all scratched. I will be getting better exclusive shots of the black N82 sometime today or tomorrow, so keep checking back.

Nokia N82 Black Spotted At More Retailers - For Under $500?

The Nokia N82 black version is looking more and more appealing. Doing a quick search around the web, I got a hold of the part number for the N82 black. Typing that into Google gave me some interesting results. None of these retailers have pictures of the N82 black yet, but they all say "coming soon", "out of stock, or "on order". With the expected release date just over a month away, we should be seeing more information about one of the most anticipated devices in the Nokia lineup.

Here is a rundown of what I found, some of the retailers I've never heard of and a few I have.

Not bad huh? I figured the N82 black would be going for at least $575 dollars to start off. Good move by Nokia to start the pricing low. This thing should sell like hotcakes.

For those interested, the Nokia N82 manufacturer number is 002F5S8. Go ahead and do your own search and see if you come up with anything interesting. Be sure to leave a comment on your findings in the comments below.

Oh and one more thing - Nokia, please let us know if there will ever be a Nokia N82 US 3g version before we go out and buy your N82 black. Thats all, just a simple yes or no. Thanks.
