I have just been doing a bit of research on very low calorie diets (or VLCDs as they are commonly known) and I was wondering how long somebody could stick to one of these extreme diets before they couldn't take any more,
After all, you are expected to survive on a daily intake of less than 800 calories a day through a combination of shakes and soups that supposedly contain all of the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients that the body requires to stay fit and well.
I have to respect anybody that can stick to one of these diets, especially if they need to lose weight quickly for health reasons, however, this isn't the best diet for everybody as they can have some unforseen side effects.
